Lindon Beckford, Singer/Songwriter

 

Lindon Beckford was born in Newell St Elizabeth, Jamaica. Growing up, Lindon attended the Newell primary School and then the Newell Secondary School, formerly known as Newell High, where he was surrounded by music. 

As a young boy Lindon loved attending the Williamsfield Seventh Day Adventist Church with his family. He loved listening to his grandmother as she would sing around the house. He also loved to sing many of his favorite hymns at family devotions.

He became a member of the youth choir in his church, where his interest and love of music continued to grow. Lindon was and is a big lover of music. Charlie Pride, Jim Reeves, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rodgers, Skeeter Davis, Percy Sledge, Dennis Brown, Jacob Miller, Gregory Isaacs and others were a few of his musical influences.

In 1984, Lindon migrated to the USA and settled in Boston MA, where he continued to pursue his musical aspirations. He released the singles Hand Full of This and Shape to Kill in 1995. In 1989, he met singer songwriter Fitzroy “Fitzie Niceness” Francis and an ongoing musical collaboration began. 

In 1998, he appeared on the album It's Time as well as with other various artists, which garnered him many shows in and around the Boston area. In 2005, he released his self-titled album Stand by Me which was very well received. He has opened up for acts such as Frankie Paul, Everton Blender and Junior Kelly, and has performed throughout the New England Area.
